Carl & Forrest
sanctuary residents since May 2023
The two bonded boys found permanent sanctuary together after a need from a fellow sanctuary was answered. Carl and Forrest are Khaki Campbells who look very different from the rest of their Pekin flock mates, and we're pretty sure they like it that way being the most nimble and swift out of everyone. They may be smaller in size, but their personalities make up for it by miles. They're quirky, they're spicey, they're sneaky, and the flock would not be the same without them. Some may think birds are not intelligent, to which we say observe these boys for a day and you'll see them problem solve, create their own fun, and enjoy being able to outrun everyone.

Carl and Forrest found friendship in everyone at the sanctuary flock. Although they present as independent little lightweights, they lookup to the others and are never too far from them. Carl is a bit of a ringleader while Forrest takes a step back (but will always follow what Carl does). In the Springtime, their feathers are light in color, especially Forrest who displays a handsome metallic green head (the inspiration behind his name!) and slowly darkens as the cooler temps set in. Just look at the difference during the seasons in their photos!
