Terry & Greg

sanctuary residents since September 2023

Two (of three) turkeys who came from a rural backyard mixed flock, after their previous guardian was moving and could not bring them. One of the first things many notice about Greg is his curled toes, which may be from genetics or more commonly inadequate nutrients or living environment while very young. Unfortunately, this among many other serious conditions is something seen very commonly in store bought chicks where overcrowding and competing for needed resources is very, very high. Looks aside, Greg has no trouble getting around. In fact, him and Terry frequently do a little trot when they see afternoon snacks coming! We are grateful Terry has dogged many of those common health ailments of store bought chicks, and is a very healthy & happy lady here at the sanctuary

Terry is a spicey, inquisitive girl who secretly loves the cuddles once she looks up at you with her big blue eyes. Greg is much more on the shy side, and is quite content with the quiet days alongside his mate. Broad breasted turkeys are industrially farmed to be as big as possible as quickly as possible at the expense of their physical health, making weight management a huge priority. To help make healthy habits, we supplement with lots of fruits & veggies...and especially lots of blueberries, those are Terry's favorite!
