Amelia & Meredith
sanctuary resident since August 2022
Amelia & Meredith took their rescue ride together where they left a backyard breeding establishment. We have many reasons to believe that they were "free" because they wasn't able to be bred and profited from. There were no names or sense of individuality, rather called "this one and that one". There were many others that day, packed and stacked into tiny wire cages. We don't know how long they'd been living there, but that day changed their life and ours.
After a 9 months of living at the sanctuary, Amelia blossomed and let her guard down. We now see her in all her self who prefers a semi-messy room, is independent, and loves to dig around in the straw. Meredith is very social and will stop in her tracks for head pets & snacks. Cucumbers & strawberries are a big hit!

The breeding establishment we rescued them from is unfortunately all legal. It is very common for places such as this to post on social media animals for sale, while living in unfair conditions. Adopting companion animals from rescues & shelters not only saves one life, but has a ripple effect and continues to save even more from living situations like Meredith & Amelia.
