Kyle

sanctuary resident since October 2023

Kyle's story is one that no one deserves, him and his bonded partner Clover who has now since passed on. Kyle and Clover were found living in a makeshift rabbit hutch in a backyard where they were fed every other day and were never let out of their enclosure. They watched others like them loose their lives to predator attacks (due to inadequate protection) and somehow survived the winter - they were the only ones left. A rescue became aware of this situation, intervened, and fostered them for a couple months. Due to unsanitary living conditions and no access to pools, Clover developed an infection in the joint of his leg as well as a serious limp. Luckily, Kyle was saved and healthy. During the months of foster care Clover's infection was treated, but had returned around the time they moved into the sanctuary. He received additional medical care, treatment for the infection, and daily water therapy for the first few months with us. In the early spring Clover had begun to show incredible signs of progress, even with the notable limp. We were so proud of him.

We can't talk about Kyle without talking about Clover. They were inseperable. The traumas that Kyle and Clover experienced held with them, they were terrified of humans. Every couple of months they would get a little more and more comfortable, but in such small amounts. They had each other as they always did, and that was enough. When Clover passed we were really worried for Kyle. He was very anxious for the first week and wasn't eating a whole lot. After a bit more time being around the flock, he slowly learned he was going to be okay. No one is going to replace his Clover and we know he misses him just as we do, but he's found a bit more of himself & has become a little less afraid. Strength and resilience embody Kyle.

Kyle is looking for his special friend!
