Sally

sanctuary resident since September 2023

Sometimes social media can be untruthful, but other times...it can save lives. For Sally, it did just that. Sally found her freedom ride together with Greg & Terry, coming from the same backyard hobby farm. When we went to get Sally, she was sitting by herself in the back of a large kennel away from the other chickens and turkeys. It was said she had a healing wound from being mated and kept to herself, and had trouble walking & standing from a swollen foot. When we brought her back to the sanctuary and assessed her physical body, it was evident this wound was far too large to be treating without medical care and her foot needed immediate attention. After 1 month of treatment, there was a different lady...

Out of all the resident's at the sanctuary, Sally has one of the biggest glow-ups. Really! She walks and runs (think turkey trot) without any issue at all, and is a fully able to do all the turkey things! Sally grew in beautiful feathers where the wound was, shed her past, and has become the most people-loving, sweet, and affectionate turkey friends we've ever met. While she does not get along with other turkeys, Sally prefers human & duck friends instead,
